home, finally home.

2 months and 12 days. That’s the longest I’ve been in the states consecutively since I left Omaha, Nebraska as a missionary 5 years ago.  6 weeks was the plan. Then I had issues renewing my passport. 9 weeks later I received my passport but then decided to stay in Omaha 2 more weeks to help ABIDE (my parents non-profit) prepare for their big yearly BASH. I’m now excitingly writing this post while sitting at my house in Monterrey, Mexico! I”M HOME!

When my original departure date back to Mexico came and past I began to get bitter. Without my passport, I had no way to get to Mexico. I was frustrated. Frustrated that I couldn’t do anything to make the process go faster and frustrated at the Lord because he knew the work I needed to get back to in Mexico. I was going to miss our original “start date” for classes with my kids.

But knowing our good God… He had it all planned. I am excited to say that because I was “forcefully” stuck in Omaha, I was able to build more relationships, serve my family & spend that extra quality time with my nieces, nephews and friends. With new relationships came more opportunity to raise awareness and support for our ministry in Mexico! God is so good and so faithful! I’m excited to announce that I am 94% fully funded! I was nowhere near that goal by my original leave date, but God new!

Not only that, I was able to be a part of the ABIDE BASH which I’ve not been able to be a part of for the last 5 years. I am blown away and always encouraged to join and learn all about what ABIDE is doing! To be a part of such an incredible event and to see and hear so many encouraging stories of people as they left the event was so worth staying in Omaha 2 extra weeks! I told my family, “I’m going to have to try and find a way to be a part of this event every year!”

I’m so happy to be back in Mexico and so excited to see what God does in our ministry this year! As I look back at these past 2 months, yes; there was a time of frustration, confusion and sadness. However; I’ve never had a better opportunity to see the hand of God work in and through all my ups and downs.

Thank you to everyone who set time out of their busy schedules to see and meet with me. Thank you for your encouraging and loving words. Thank you for welcoming me back as family for day 1! I enjoyed my time in Omaha and left to encouraged and filled with joy to begin this next school year with my kids in Mexico.
